The Grape Escapade Wine Festival



Introduction:

The festival fabricates and continues with the state’s culinary interests of tourists is an effort to promote best and varied offerings of tourism.

Goa Tourism Development Corporation Ltd has been organizing “The Grape Escapade”-Wine and Haute Cuisine festival every year since 2005.

The festival is laid upon the legacy milieu of the GMC Courtyards, Campal, Panaji. GTDC celebrates the Grape Escapade aims at promoting tourism activites in Goa.

The fiesta is organised at the huge courtyard of Inox Theatre in Panjim. This is a lifetime event that one must hang with in his event calendar.

Goa has influences of many cultures and the influences can been seen not only in food, but also in artistic passion and lifestyle.

The fiesta encapsulates the spirits of Goan lifestyle thus trade marking Goa as a “Lifestyle Destination”.

The festival is a unique cultural experience. International wine makers and local clientele, hoteliers, restaurants and professionals from the entertainment, food & beverage and lifestyle come under one roof at the time of festival.

Goa is highlighted on the world map by these multi cultural influences, artistic passions, art of hospitality and dining. Food courts present culinary delights from all over the globe, International fusion cuisine and exotic delicacies are offered to satisfy everyone’s palate. The food offered here might fill the stomach but the feeling of getting more and more still remain alive.

Goa Tourism Development Corporation has been organizing the festival to establish it as a brand.

The leading wineries, hoteliers and Restaurateurs like Diageo Nilaya Wines, Bohemia Wine, 4 Season Wine, Sula wines, Chateau Indage, Howling Wolves, Big Banyan Wine, Mandalavalley Wine, Zampa Wines, N.D. Wines, Nira Valley Wine, Vinsura Wine, Berkmann Wine Cellars India Pvt Ltd, Vintage Wine, Mums Kitchen, Vasquitos, Bottle Bay, Zeebop and Khanasutra mark their presence in the Grape Escapade every year. People from far and wide also come here to buy wines too. Attractive discounts are also levied upon the purchases.

Wine is the soul mate of food. Besides being associated with almost all the happy occasions as friendship or success it is also good for health when consumed in moderate amount. Exclusive wine tasting sessions are conducted on all four days for invitees and wine connoisseurs. Each one those who came to witness the festivity stomp and clomp the grapes for the traditional crushing.

Wine makers from out of the state largely come here to find exclusive wine lover and to get in touch with potential customers. The small time home wine makers are provided special stall free of charge. This festival gives platform not only to experts and tourists but Indians rush to enjoy the cultural programmes, fashion shows, live music and to taste wines from various participating producers.

The festival is a musical extravaganza. Konkani artists, local bands, spot singers and dance performers with their wide array of music, dance and act performances mesmerize the audiences. The artists who eat fire and the Hoop Hulla, the carnival parades and the pirates put up some startling acts and add spark to the show.

Fashion show by the well-recognized designers of Goa, Monty Sally and the selection of The Grape Escapade Queen are the main highlights of Grape Escapade.

This is a big event to promote Indian wineries organized by the tourism department. About 4-5,000 people pay a visit to the Grape Escapade Wine Festival to have a good time.

Time to celebrate
The Grape Escapade offers lip smacking food and wine except being a hub of wine makers, hoteliers, restaurants, professionals from the food and beverage industry. The festival with its hot and spicy flavor is held in February every year. In 2010, the Wine festival has to be organized from February 5-8.




How to reach

By Air
Nearest Airport is Dabolim Airport situated 30-km from the capital, Panjim. Direct charter flights from the main European countries and domestic flights from Mumbai, Bangalore, Kochi, Delhi, Chennai and Thiruvananthapuram are available.

By Rail
Nearest Railway Station is in Vasco-da-Gama a city 30km from Panjim. The rail lines connect Panjim to Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and New Delhi.

By Road
Ordinary and luxury buses run by State Kadamba Transport Corporation, operate from the bus stand in Patto, 1km east of Panjim.
